Windows 7 laptop display brightness!

Windows 7 laptop display brightness control sucks! Every other day it automatically goes into "dark mode", where even with the best display brightness, screen is barely visible. If you can't think of any invention, just screw up something? Nice!
For all its faults Vista atleast didn't screw this up!

Now I don't know how to work on this shit screen! I learned my lesson. Never ever upgrade unless you must!
Hoping another reboot will fix this!?

Update: OK, I found the workaround! Just remove the power cord and plug it back in. That's so 21st century OS like!
